Went to the U of M Hockey game last night with my dad. The Wolverines won 4-2. All the goals came inth e first period. This is the first half of a Blue-Green weekend for me. This afternoon I’m going to watch the lady Spartans of MSU play B-Ball. More text (and hopefully photos) later.

The OpenRAW Survey 2006 results are now being published. Chapter 1 is available now.
The OpenRAW initiative (http://www.OpenRAW.org/) is a one-year-old international organization representing the interests of photographers and digital imaging practitioners. From January 31 to March 15, 2006, OpenRAW
conducted an international online survey (http://www.OpenRAW.org/survey/) designed to give photographers and other interested parties a voice in the further development of RAW imaging technology. The response was outstanding. During the six-week 2006 RAW Survey, over 19,000 individuals – professional photographers, dedicated amateurs, and other imaging specialists – answered all 25 of the survey’s targeted questions. The average respondent had 19.5 years’ experience in photography.
This is an amazing response, Chapter one covers the carachteristics of who responded to the survey.

In June of 2006, the OpenRAW team sent printed hard copies of the 2006 RAW Survey report to the top management of Canon Nikon and Sony. Sony sent OpenRAW a thank you letter at the end of July. OpenRAW has posted a translation on their web site. Unfortunately they are the only recipients of the printed reports that OpenRAW mailed to have replied. Of course a letter is relatively easy to write, we’ll have to wait and see if their new knowledge from the RAW Survey impacts their policies. At the very least Sony has acknowledge OpenRAW’s existence and by extension, has acknowledge the issues being discussed at OpenRAW. Maybe it’s time to start looking at Sony…

Eric and I don’t see much of each other since I moved to Lansing and he’s in McBain. Last weekend Eric and his family came to the lake for burgers, hot dogs and some tubing fun. I drove the boat and Eric drove the camera. In the sequence above, the red and yellow tube with Nick in it flipped over the middle double tube. Nick was pretty lucky and landed inside the double tube! Neither Eric or I have taken photos from the back of a moving boat in decades. It takes some getting used to, not to mention the fact that you never quite know when something is going to happen. The toughest shats are the backlit ones with stong light behind the tubers.
